The Career Planning Portal is a guide to a dynamic, interactive career destination, which new and seasoned job seekers can utilize for researching, planning and developing their careers for years to come! 

 

Career Insights – Provides professionals with detailed data, trends, and forecasts about a specific occupation (based on the occupation title).

 

To locate this tool, head to your career center account and use the drop down menu Job Seeker > Career Planning > Career Insights  as shown below:

You will begin your search using the provided search for occupation and location. As you type, the system will give options for what you may like to select.

We will walk you through what you might expect to see in this section using "Mechanical Engineer" as the example occupation. 

 

      • Growth outlooks for various jobs – including government estimates for future job creation by role and location.

      • Compensation ranges by region or nationally, and on a salaried or hourly basis.

      • Sample “day in the life” videos with practical examples of what it’s like to perform specific roles.
